Mewery is a global food & deep-tech company developing a platform for cell-cultivated meat products using proprietary co-culture methods of animal and microalgae cells. Our method leverages the strengths of both organisms, increasing overall yield, and fortifying the mass with richer nutrients. MEWERY is the only company in the world demonstrating the ability to grow pig cells in co-culture with microalgae.

What we need from you đź’»
You’re a passionate and experienced microalgae expert, ready to lead a small but ambitious R&D program and work at the intersection of biotechnology and food innovation. You’ll develop and optimize cultivation systems, guide experimental design, and help us unlock the full potential of algae in cultivated meat.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and coordinate microalgae research and development projects
- Optimize cultivation techniques, media composition, and environmental conditions
- Manage and operate different cultivation systems: photobioreactors (PBRs), open ponds, flat panels, tubular systems
- Oversee biomass harvesting and downstream processing (lipids, proteins, pigments, bioactive compounds)
- Apply advanced analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, spectrophotometry, microscopy, flow cytometry)
- Ensure compliance with GLP/GMP standards and maintain lab safety and quality systems
- Plan and execute experimental strategies, interpret data, and prepare reports
- Manage equipment procurement and maintenance
- Oversee lab documentation, data management, and protocol development
Who we’re looking for:
- Ph.D. (or MSc with extensive experience) in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in microalgae research or industrial-scale production
- Deep understanding of microalgal physiology, cultivation, and optimization
- Strong background in laboratory and project management
- English-speaking scientist with excellent communication skills
- Skilled in planning, budgeting, and scientific documentation
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners
